Detail Itinerary:
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Cau Ke - Tra Vinh (B-L)
We drive to Vinh Long with a stop at the Bonsai garden to have a coffee. After lunch at typical restaurant, we bike out of the town to Cau Vi with the distance of 27 km. Off the bridge, veer right to go straight to Cau Ke and reach Ta Thieu pagoda about 29 km. After visiting the pagoda, we go to Tra Vinh by car. Overnight at hotel. (80 - 100 km)
Day 2: Tra Vinh - Vinh Long - Can Tho (B-L)
After breakfast, ride & shuttle to visit the Ba Om pond and some Khmer pagodas before leaving Tra Vinh for Vinh Long. On arrival, have lunch and head onto the village of Ba Ke where we turn into the country road and enjoy the cool air and breeze along the road; there are a lot of photo moments of the smiles of Mekong people and working farmers at the velvet green rice fields and fruit tree garden, the peaceful scenery of the rivers and villages. Then we get back to the busy road and shuttle to our hotel. Overnight in Can Tho. (50 - 70 km)
Day 3: Can Tho (B-L)
After breakfast, shuttle out of Can Tho to the village of Tam Vu, start Biking today along the paved road toward Vi Thanh. Turn off the road and keep riding on a dirt road along the Rach Ngoi canal. After riding through the busy market, Khmer community, get back to the pavement at Vi Thanh at lunch time, followed by a shuttle back to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho. (70 - 90 km)
Day 4: Can Tho - Long Xuyen (B-L)
Take a boat to visit the most interesting floating market of Cai Rang, where hundred of boats of all sizes gather around for trading their agricultural products. We continue to My Khanh orchard passing the rice paper dried along the riverbank and get off our boat for biking Vong Cung well-paved countryside road with Arch-shape for about 30 km. The road is really shady with banana and green bamboo trees growing all the way long on 2 sides of the road, especially the Mekong River is blending its way on the left hand side along with this road until we reach the National Highway 91. From here, shuttle to Thot Not with a short hike of 25 minutes into the Bang Lang Stock sanctuary to watch the lively activities of stocks coming back home for the night. (30 km)
Day 5: Long Xuyen - Hong Ngu - Chau Doc (B-L)
From Long Xuyen to Cao Lanh via 2 ferries of An Hoa and Cao Lanh. Drive off town of Cao Lanh and bear right at the 30 thang 4 street. Start riding 20 km from here to Thanh Binh. After lunch in Thanh Binh, continue to ride 35 km along quiet roads to Hong Ngu. Take the ferry to the left of the intersection and get across the Hong Ngu River. Continue biking to Tan Chau along dirt roads another 15 km until we reach the Tan Chau ferry. Get off the bike, take the ferry again to Tan Chau and shuttle from there to Chau Giang ferry. This is the final ferry of the day to bring us to down town of Chau Doc. On arrival, transfer to hotel. Overnight in Chau Doc. (60 - 80 km)
Day 6: Chau Doc (B-L)
Shuttle 60 km to Lo Te Y intersection and veer right into Tri Ton direction, start pedaling straight 90 km to Sam Mountain to visit the Thoai Ngoc Hau tomb, Chua Xu Lady temple, and Tay An temple. Shuttle for 6 km to Chau Doc town. Have pick nick Lunch. Afternoon back to hotel. Overnight in Chau Doc. (70 - 90 km)
Day 7: Chau Doc - Ho Chi Minh City (B-L)
Early morning around 6:30 am, take a 2-hour boat cruise to visit the floating fish farms to see local people growing basa fish. Then, onto visit the Cham mosque to learn about the Cham minority in An Giang province. Back to hotel to check out. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City via Vam Cong ferry, Sadec. Lunch in My Tho. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City around 5:00 pm.
