Itinerary:
The village craft centre and workshops showcases craft items and the painstaking process by which they are produced, using specialist tools and techniques that have been passed down since the 15th century - when Hoi An flourished as a major sea port.
The workshops today make hand crafted furniture and sculptures as well as a range of tempting souvenirs, some of which are exported a field as Europe and North America. Kim Bong craftsmen made a vital contribution to the recent restoration of historic buildings after Hoi An was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999. Moreover, they have been encouraged and rewarded by UNESCO for their preservation efforts.
Our tour guide will pick you up at the Bach Dang port for 15 minutes boarding on the Thu Bon River to Kim Bong Village. The tour will start with an introduction walk during which the guide will explain the story of Kim Bong Village. Throughout the walk you will have the possibility to admire the shipbuilding area where wooden fishing vessels are built using traditional techniques. You will also make a stop in the carpentry workshop where carpenters create hand crafted furniture and sculptures as well as a range of souvenirs. Afterwards you will hop on your bicycle for a 1.30 to 2 hours tour withininner and outer Kim Bong where you will explore today’s sprawling and peaceful rural village life and contemplate several temples, old houses and the famous Kim Buu pagoda, mats weaving & coracle boats, old bamboo bridge. During the trail, you will enjoy refreshments at villagers’ homes and enjoy the snack with local foods there. Have a lunch at local home’s villager. Back to the hotel .
